For over a decade, Dr. Julie Foreman has led Lafayette Eye Specialists with a commitment to advanced technology, specialized expertise, and personalized care designed around each patient’s needs.

As a locally owned, physician-led practice, patients are never treated like just another number. From routine eye care to advanced surgical treatment, our goal is to provide a higher level of care in an environment that feels personal, reassuring, and centered around you.

Dr. Julie Foreman M.D.

Dr. Julie Foreman is a native of Belle Chasse, Louisiana. She graduated from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine, New Orleans. Dr. Foreman completed residency training in Ophthalmology at the Hamilton Eye Institute at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, followed by a Glaucoma fellowship at Tulane University under the direction of Dr. Ramesh Ayyala–a leading expert in 

the field.

Dr. Foreman has been practicing comprehensive Ophthalmology in Lafayette since 2012, with a subspecialty focus on the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and emphasis on minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). She is the only fellowship-trained Glaucoma specialist in the area. Her practice offers a full range of surgical and nonsurgical ophthalmic procedures and general eye care. Dr. Foreman has surgical privileges at Lafayette General Surgical Hospital, Lafayette General Medical Center, Oil Center Surgical Plaza, and University Hospital and Clinics.

Dr. Tim Barry, O.D.

Dr. Tim Barry, a native of Sunset, is a 1994 graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. Upon graduating, he opened Acadian Eye Care and Optical in Jennings, where he practiced for nearly 25 years, focusing primarily on glaucoma and other ocular medical eye care. In recent years, Dr. Barry has been semiretired, providing care to underserved in state and federal facilities including corrections and veterans clinics. He loves caring for his patients and considers it to be his calling and, at times, a ministry.

​Dr. Barry has been a leader in advancing his profession, serving as president of the local and the state Optometry Association of Louisiana and has been honored as the OAL State Optometrist of the Year twice, most recently in 2023. He has served on regional and national optometry committees and boards, receiving the AOA PAC Chairman of the Year award. In March of 2025, Dr. Barry will be installed as the 102nd President of the Southern Council of Optometrists, an organization dedicated to providing cutting-edge eye care education both nationally and internationally.​
